This review explores how E3 ubiquitin ligases function as master regulators of plant immunity, controlling the stability and activity of receptors, kinases, transcription factors, and hormone signaling components. We highlight new structural and mechanistic insights into major E3 families, including CRL, RING, U-box, and RBR ligases, and how pathogens target these systems during infection.
Our work presents the ubiquitin system as a dynamic signaling network that integrates defense, growth, and proteostasis, opening new paths toward engineering stronger and more resilient crops.
