Our research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying signal perception, recognition, and propagation within cells. Our research has been focused on the investigation of the <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/shabek-lab.ucdavis.edu\/index.php\/research\/ubiquitin-biology\/\">ubiquitin<\/a> <\/span><\/strong>proteasome system, <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a style=\"color: #800080;\" href=\"http:\/\/shabek-lab.ucdavis.edu\/index.php\/research\/light-signaling-pathways\/\">light<\/a><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> signaling pathways,<\/span><\/span> and plant <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"http:\/\/shabek-lab.ucdavis.edu\/index.php\/research\/plant-hormone-signaling\/\">hormone<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>sensing mechanisms.<\/p><div><div data-weight=\"1\"><div data-index=\"0\"><div><div><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/shabek-lab.ucdavis.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/showcase-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"487\" height=\"274\" \/>We are particularly interested in characterizing signal transduction pathways triggered by environmental stimuli in plants. How do specific biochemical and structural adaptations enable biomolecular sensors to rapidly engage downstream regulatory factors such as ubiquitin ligases, receptors, or transcription factors? Many of these fundamental mechanisms remain poorly understood across biological systems.
